THE PLANES – THE SOUNDS - THE FOOD... THE INCREDIBLE FEATS OF DAREDEVILRY THUNDER ON THE RIO GRANDE AIRSHOW ROCKS THE VALLEY!
For the first time in nine years an Air Show will grace the skies of Las Cruces. From the zany antics of the Indy Boys School Time Jet-Powered School Bus through the aerial artistry of Air Combat Command’s “Viper West “ F-16 aerial demonstration team and the classical precision of the Air Force Heritage Fleet, the Thunder on the Rio Grande Air Show promises to entertain and thrill airshow fans of all ages. Other electrifying acts include the barnstorming aerobatics of Bob Carlton’s Jet-Powered Glider; Franklin’s Flying Circus starring Kyle Franklin, whose amazing acts include the crazy Wingtip Dragging Comedy Act, the world’s only Motorcycle to Airplane Transfer, and Pirate Wingwalking with WingWalker Todd Green; Dan Buchanan’s Flying Colors, showcasing the hang-gliding artistry of Dan Buchanan who overcame a harrowing accident that left him a paraplegic and went on to win two showmanship awards from the airshow entertainment industry; Tim Decker’s Aerobatics with Attitude, the exciting show designed by retired USAF pilot Tim Decker, who has ties to the area as he was formerly stationed at Holloman AFB; and the high energy and action packed display of Melissa Aerobatics, featuring the youngest female performance pilot Melissa Andrzejewski whose original training by her flying grandmother has led her to view each show as “a new palate where she can create a beautiful painting in the sky to please the eyes, ears, and imaginations of all.” Keeping things running smoothly and on-schedule will be renowned Air Boss George Cline, who will ensure a fast-paced and safe spectacle in the air in concert with famed – and funny – Veteran Announcer Hugh Oldham.
In addition to all of the fun in the sky, there will also be numerous static displays on the grounds including vintage warplanes, experimental aircraft, a children’s educational area, and much more! Over 20,000 Airshow fans are anticipated over the two-day event.
